Dream Away

As I stood in the warm sun while waiting for my coffee at Nook Espresso in Burleigh Heads this morning, I gave myself 5 minutes just to dream, here it is.

I dreamt that instead of heading in to work today that I would head back to my car, grab the picnic blanket, a hat and my sewing box and spend the morning sewing up some new little felties. Then I would walk back over to James Street to my shop. It is two stories, the bottom comprising of a retail store/coffee shop. The retail store is full of handmade craft (think Etsy or MadeIt but in a physical space) where I stock my own wares plus amazing locals artisans wares. The coffee shop sells amazing coffee, fresh homemade cakes and lunches catering for little ones and those with allergies (my dream, ah, would make my life so much easier if this coffee shop existed!) with big communal tables at the back for craft groups/mums groups/anyone to meet, eat and communicate. Then up the stairs to the workshop space. Timber floorboards, windows with fresh breeze, a space where I run my drama classes for children and adults from (I currently teach drama to kids but don’t work for myself) and also be able to employ some amazingly talented locals to teach art/music workshops. We do have some fantastic grass roots arts emerging on the coast but I don’t think there are enough spaces and classes to foster its growth. A fantastical arts hub that I run. On the Gold Coast. That is my dream.

Back to reality as I hear “small soy cappuccino! Have a nice day!”. I just need money and time, but don’t we all? Wouldn’t it be lovely for my dream to come true…
